This playground is in Forestry Farm Park, but outside the Zoo. You’ll need to pay to park, but then you can access the playground, fire pits, rose garden, and pond without paying any additional entrance fees.
Location: Forestry Farm Park, 1903 Forestry Farm Park Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7S 1GN. Note: This is near, but not in, the zoo (map).
Parking: $2 per day or $10 for a year-long pass
Age Range: 2 – 12
Ground Cover: Mulch, sand
Features: The playground has an animal theme, which is suitable because it’s just outside the Zoo. There is a large climber with regular and roller slides, a large “rock” to climb, and a tent-shaped net for climbing. Part of the climbing structure is wheelchair accessible. There are also rockers and a separate sand box and small climber.
Surrounding Park Area: The playground is in Forestry Farm Park, which is beautiful. It’s adjacent to a fishing pond and a large green space, and near a rose garden and the zoo.
Shade: Plentiful, lots of trees
Seating: Lots of benches and picnic tables
Amenities: Fire pits
Accessibility: A small part of the climbing structure is wheelchair accessible. It leads to a large rocker which looks like it could accommodate two chairs.
Charlotte’s review (5 years old): “I like the rock.”
Luc’s review (3 years old): “The slide is fun.” (He liked the roller slide.)
This playground has one of the prettiest locations in the city, and a cute theme. With the pond and zoo very nearby, you could easily stay here for a whole day. There are fire pits, so bring some hot dogs for roasting. There are some more challenging climbing options here for big kids, such as a tent-shaped net and a large faux rock. The roller slide was a big hit with my kids. If the main playground gets too crowded, little kids can move to the adjacent climber, which is smaller. There’s also a sandbox with a tree growing out of the middle a short distance away, and lots of green space to run around in. The fishing pond is stocked with rainbow trout, but you’ll need a permit ($1 – $2) to fish there.
